FACTS: The potential tenant has a dog utilized as an emotional support animal.  The landlord wants to charge a pet deposit for the dog.

ISSUE:  Is a landlord entitled to charge a pet deposit for an emotional support animal?

ANSWER: No. 

DISCUSSION:

Emotional support animals provide comfort and support to their human companions.  Under the Fair Housing Act, landlords are not allowed to charge pet deposits for emotional support animals.
