Application Instructions
Arizona REALTORS® and its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee commits to building a strong and diverse association to foster a more respectful and inclusive member and consumer experience.
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Real Estate Scholarship Program provides scholarships to two (2) eligible candidates who have graduated from high school who are seeking a career in the real estate field. The scholarships will award up to $1,500 to each recipient annually based on selections made by the DEI Committee’s Scholarship Review Board, upon verification of all eligibility requirements listed below. The Scholarship can be used for real estate pre-licensing school, exam expenses, and the first year of REALTOR® state and national dues.
Class of 2024 applications must be submitted by August 31, 2024, for Class of 2024 graduates. Recipients will be notified by October 1, 2024.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must:
- Be a permanent resident of the State of Arizona and a legal U.S. citizen.
- Show proof of a high school or GED diploma, or verification from a high school administrator of pending.
- Submit a completed application, including an essay that speaks to your qualifications or why you would be a good REALTOR® and 2 letters of recommendation uploaded to the application form.
- Exemplify character, including demonstrated evidence of good citizenship, this may include letters from an organization you have volunteered at or other documentation which showcases your efforts.
- Be eligible to become licensed as a real estate agent in Arizona based on the requirements set forth by the Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) https://azre.gov/licensees/original-licensing-information.
- Enroll in an ADRE-approved Arizona real estate school, college, or university within 2 months of graduating high school and complete the Arizona pre-licensing course in-person/online/both and the school’s final exam.
- Successfully complete and pass the ADRE Salesperson License Examination.
- Join and participate as a mentee with a current REALTOR® for up to six months after joining the local and state REALTOR® associations to discuss future aspirations and receive career guidance.
This program is designed to promote diversity within the REALTOR® membership.
Reimbursement/Payment:
- Payment of the Arizona Real Estate Salesperson pre-licensing course registration fee will be made directly to the Real Estate school, college, or university the student is enrolled in.
- Reimbursements to scholarship recipients for Real Estate application and license fees will be made upon successful completion of all the other requirements.
- All receipts, certificates, and documentation must be submitted to the Arizona REALTORS® office within 30-days of payment.
- The first year of state association REALTOR® dues will be waived.
Candidate’s Commitment:
If selected for the Arizona REALTORS® DEI scholarship program, the recipient commits to being responsible for obtaining their real estate salesperson’s license. They will do their best to become an active participant in the state or their local association’s DEI committee within two years of obtaining their salesperson’s license.
