GENERAL SESSION SPEAKERS
Ken Nwadike “The Hugs Guy” is the founder of the Free Hugs Project, which produces motivational videos to spread love, inspire change, and raise awareness of social issues. His ‘Free Hugs’ videos have reached hundreds of millions of views on Facebook and YouTube.
In 2014, Nwadike launched the Free Hugs Project to spread love in response to the bombing of the Boston Marathon. The Free Hugs Project gained popularity in 2016, as Nwadike made major news headlines for his peace-keeping efforts and de-escalating violence during protests, riots, and political rallies. Nwadike was featured in Google’s 2016 Year in Search video as a highlight of some of the year’s most defining moments.
Michelle Lind is an attorney and the Chief Executive Officer for the Arizona REALTORS®. As such, she oversees the strategic direction and operations of the largest trade association in Arizona.
Prior to becoming CEO, Michelle served as the primary legal advisor to the association and was integral in the development of AAR’s contract and transaction forms. She joined the association after 10 years in private practice, first at the Phoenix law firm of Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, and thereafter, as a partner in Combs, Mack & Lind, a law firm focusing on real estate litigation and transactions.
Michelle has served on numerous Arizona Department of Real Estate committees and as Chair of the State Bar Real Property Executive Council. She is the author of Arizona Real Estate: A Professional’s Guide to Law & Practice.
Michelle received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University (ASU), graduating summa cum laude, and her law degree, graduating cum laude, from ASU College of Law.
Colin Mullane is a Broker Owner of a small brokerage in Ashland Oregon. Licensed since 2000, Colin has been a top producer in his market from the outset. He immigrated from Ireland in 1997, worked for four years in the service industry before getting into real estate. Colin is a strong believer in the profession of real estate being a cornerstone of the American Dream and has been thankful for the many opportunities it has provided him and his family. Colin is a past President for his local MLS, State President for the Oregon Association of REALTORS®, a graduate of the National Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy, Past Regional Vice President for the National Association of REALTORS® and currently serves as a Liaison for Global Committees at NAR. Balancing a busy career, family life and his volunteer leadership roles makes for a full schedule, but one he relishes. A firm believer in ensuring REALTORS® and Brokers are surrounded with the best resources possible to stay relevant and thrive in today’s market.
Karel Murray engages her audiences with a mix of attitude, perspective, humor and relevant, timely content that inspires accountability for achieving results. She opens and closes conferences nationally and internationally with a memorable energy, impactful insight about personal accountability and provides relevant, immediately applicable information for attendees. Having presented to over 75,000 people in her career, her extensive real estate experience as a past managing broker and professional speaking background combine for an incredible attendee experience.
Karel combines her human resource management background with her business, community and association leadership experiences to deliver content that not only informs and educates, but provides practical suggestions mixed with a healthy dose of humor.
BREAKOUT SESSION SPEAKERS
Paula Monthofer brings every subject to life by mixing passion, a quick wit and her experience as an active REALTOR® and business leader in a fun and relatable way. Learners appreciate her highly interactive teaching style. Her enthusiasm for collaboration is infectious and her energy keeps learners captivated and engaged. This graduate of Rutgers University served as the 2017 President for the Arizona REALTORS® and the 2014 recipient of the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce’s Young Athena Award, and 2017 Arizona REALTOR® of the Year. Paula is the 2019 Region 11 Vice President for the National Association of REALTORS®
Sindy Ready is with the Ready-Callaghan Team, at RE/MAX Excalibur, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Sindy is the past president at the national level of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® and 2019 president-elect for the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS …and is a deeply involved REALTOR® at the local, state and national level. She will be serving as Chair of the Arizona REALTORS Professional Development Committee in 2019 and the Executive Committee.
Monica Schulik, RCE, serves as Director of Association Relations at the Arizona REALTORS®. Monica has been with the Arizona REALTORS for twenty two years. She works closely with both local associations and the NAR to ensure communications is flowing three ways. Monica is familiar with the many resources available to both association executives and REALTOR members that make their careers easier. If she doesn’t know the answer to a question, she will not rest until she finds it.
Christina Smalls, RCE, serves as Director of Operations for the Arizona REALTORS®. Christina has been with the association for 15 years. She works closely with the CEO, to administer and coordinate the association’s policies, procedures, functions and activities. Additionally, she coordinates outgoing and incoming communications of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Association senior staff.
D. Patrick Lewis is the 2019 President of the Arizona REALTORS®. He previously served as the 2014 President of the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS®. Patrick has been a Realtor and Associate Broker for over 16 years and has served at many levels of local and national leadership in a variety of roles from Chair of state and local committees to participating in strategic planning of the local MLS and associations. He graduated from the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS® Leadership Class 11, Arizona REALTORS® Leadership Training Academy and was one of the inaugural graduates from the City of Scottsdale Fire Departments Citizen’s Fire Academy.
